2011 starts off with a group of shows featuring authors who are also doctors. My first guest for this year is Dr. Connie Stapleton author of "Eat It Up! The Complete Mind/Body/Spirit Guide to a Full Life After Weight Loss Surgery".
Connie is a licensed psychologist who is certified addictions counselor working closely with both doctors and potential surgical weight loss patients.
In 2006 she and her husband opened “Mind Body Health Services", the book and her services is aimed to inspire others to help themselves develop a healthier life.
As we learned through a very interesting program, while we hear about many people whose aim it is to lose weight being it from diets or surgery, the hard part is after, what happens on those “biggest loser” type shows once the cameras have gone and the gloss gone from the feeling of success in losing the weight?
Connie’s book “Eat it up!” is written with humor, compassion and a much needed “firm but fair” approach, a book that will not only help the person trying to lose the weight, but also those who are around them. As we heard, it is the sort of book that the patient (for want of a better term) will gain from with each reading.
With over 200,000 people a year undergoing weight loss surgery, this is a book that will be of great help for many people. With a second book underway, I’m sure Dr Connie Stapleton and her books, will be a name that many doctors as well as patients will find a must read.
So sit back and listen to today's interesting and entertaining show as I host today's "A Book and a Chat with Dr Connie Stapleton"
