A Book and a Chat with Allan Topol

I am glad to have on "A Book and a Chat" the return of international best selling thriller writer Allan Topol to chat his tenth book the latest his Craig Page thriller "The Argentine Triangle".

Hero Craig Page previously appeared on the trilogy , the third and final book in trilogy that includes “The Spanish Revenge",The China Gambit”, "The Russian Endgame".

Now Allan Toplol one of the best thriller writers of today is back with The Argentine Triangle" another must read for all lovers of thrillers.

A lawyer of some not, Allan has used his legal and military knowledge along with locations he has visited in his much traveled life to produce a stream of books that have readers eagerly awaiting his next page turning thriller.

Currently, plans are in the works to make three of the earlier novels “SPY DANCE”, “A WOMAN OF VALOR”, and “DARK AMBITION” to be made into movies. As we learned a screenwriter has already been hired by a producer to write a screenplay for SPY DANCE, and it is nearing completion.--

About “The Argentine Triangle”: (taken from Amazon)

After a fall from grace and drastic cosmetic surgery in Switzerland, former CIA director Craig Page is enjoying a new, exhilarating life racing cars across Europe. But when new dangers threaten America and an old friend goes missing during a covert mission in Argentina, will Craig be ready to step up to the plate?

Undercover in the glamorous world of Buenos Aires' wealthy elite, Page finds himself on the brink of a terrible discovery. General Estrada and Colonel Schiller have plans for Argentina, but that's only the tip of the iceberg. A world of brutality hidden in the classified secrets of Argentina's Dirty War comes to light, painting an image of the cataclysmic future awaiting Estrada's South America. To expose Estrada and put an end to his plot, Page is forced to implement every instinct, skill, and tool in his arsenal. But when it comes time to close in for the kill, Page meets with unexpected complications-love, lust, and a lethal game of cat and mouse.

Hard on the heels of The Russian Endgame comes Allan Topol's next great thriller.

Rife with the exotic backdrops and hairpin plot turns that put Topol on the best-seller list, The Argentine Triangle is a heart-stopping foray into human vice coupled with power accelerating towards catastrophe.

As the review says...In a world fraught with global conspiracy, Craig Page is king. So check it out!

A Book and a Chat with Lee Tidball

Lee Tidball is an award winning screenplay writer some of which have now been produced as novelts, but his original calling was as a teacher.
He became a full time writer after many years as a middle-grades teacher where he was able to share with his pupils the first jottings of his now launched books.

His novels fascinate and entertain both his middle-grade/young adult/family audience as well as Hollywood agents and producers. These include his graphic novel series "Princess Reborn," based on his screenplay of the same name, his television pilot/series concept "Midnight Princess," based on his novel "Hidden Talents; Ginah's Journal #2" (a prequel to "Princess Reborn"), his Christmas fantasy screenplay "Sandi Claus", and his historical young-adult fantasy novel "Windfork Secrets."

Finding the market for his screen plays somewhat a closed shop he is now producing them as graphic novels as with “Princess Reborn”, which received an Honorable Mention in the Writers' Digest 15th Annual International Self-Published Book Awards, Middle-grade/Young Adult category (2007).

About Princess Reborn: (taken from Amazon)

Lari's puzzled. What's Mom's secret? And could it have anything to do with Lari's, secret? Lari's family will never be the same again when an unspeakable evil is unleashed on the world. A dark nemesis from mom's phantom past, bent on ruling and revenge. The world will stand helpless against it. The time for Heroes has come again. One must be born, though she has no idea who she is. And the other must, against all odds, be REBORN.

With a publisher now picking up and re-launching some of his earlier work and more from the Princess Reborn series we will find the name Lee Tidball not only on the books shelves but hopefully soon on the screen as well.

A Book and a Chat with Tina Field Howe

Along my 550 shows I have got to know many authors, some I have even met. However today’s guest Tine Field Howe I have not only met, but joined in her audio show narrating some of the characters during an “open to the public” sample of her award winning audio book taken from the “The Tellings of Xunar-kun Series!”.

I first came across this multi-creative lady with her children book “Snails-worth” which both my children loved. It was interesting to hear during the show that this book has now also been made into an audio, with several of the cast from the “The Tellings of Xunar-kun Series!”, taking roles in the Snails-worth audio.

From Snails-worth I was captivated by the first in the Xunar-kun “Alysa of the Fields”  which received many rave reviews and awards and was soon followed by book two “The TrailFolk of Xunar-ku” which again won the multi-talented Tina many awards an plaudits.

Book three of the series we learned is now in the design stage, having taken somewhat of a back seat as Tina has moved into Screen writing again creating several items ranging from a Romantic/Thriller to a horror movie score.

It would seem no matter what this talented lady turns her hand to, success is never far away.

About Alysa of the Fields (Also and award winning audio book)

Hidden deep in the mountains of planet Xunar-kun, the Field Folk clan believed themselves to be the only remaining people, other than the distant Trailmen, to inhabit their warn-torn world. They were wrong. In coming to realize her individuality, Alysa—a young woman of the Folk—risks all to save her people from certain peril. As a result, long-hidden truths are revealed, age-old hatreds are healed, and Alysa leads her people to a new way of life.

About The TrailFolk of Xunar-ku

It is four cycles later. The Folk and Trailmen have accepted that they are part of something greater than themselves. They have come together as “the Seekers”. Their purpose: to find the true Parents of the Orphans. But they find something much more insidious and more lethal than any threat they have faced before.

As one reviewer wrote about the audio book…

Alysa of the Fields, by Tina Field Howe, has already been hailed as a magical fantasy masterpiece. Now the author has taken her story to a new level, creating a mesmerizing innovation that will have an enlightening impact on the world of audio books.

Well now that Tina is hitting the big screen trail, who knows what other masterpieces we will be able to enjoy from Tina Field Howe.

A Book and a Chat with Saundra Mitchell

Today on "A Book and a Chat" I was talking with the multi award winning author Saundra Mitchell about her life and her debut book "Shadowed Summer".

Saundra shared with us some of her early experiences, from writing a play on fourth grade where the hero kept getting punched, to her time in the armed forces and what lead to her leaving them.

During a thoroughly enjoyable sixty minute program, we covered all the aspects of not on writing, but editing and promoting as well, items that were enjoyed by the numerous guests we had in the chat room.

So what about Saundra, I can do nothing better than add what she herself says about her work…

Saundra Mitchell is a longtime screenwriter and author. Random House's Delacorte Press published her debut novel, Shadowed Summer, on February 10th, 2009. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Children's will publish her next novel, The Vespertine.

For almost ten years, she was the sole screenwriter for the Book of Stories, On the Road, Fresh Films and Girls in the Director's Chair short film series. In 2008, she headed and instructed the first Fresh Films Emerging Screenwriters program, and became the Head Writer and an Executive Producer for the film series.

Shadowed Summer is the 2010 winner of The Society of Midland Authors Book Award for Children's Fiction, and a 2010 Edgar® Award Nominee. It was chosen as a Junior Library Guild selection, and an ALAN Pick in 2009. Her short story "Ready to Wear" was nominated for a 2007 Pushcart Prize after appearing in Vestal Review Issue 27. In July, 2007, her essay, "Rapid Cycling," appeared in Common Ties.

Her short story, "Management" appeared in Zen Film's anthology "Love & Sacrifice" in February, 2007, and another short, "Kissing the Dog-Faced Boy" appeared in The Summerset Review's Spring Issue, 2007. She has also published in SmokeLong Quarterly, Edgar Literary Magazine, and The Parnassus.

Other screenwriting accomplishments include scripting Scholastic's "Get Active with Widget" webisode "Treasure Hunt" and the 2006 Girls in the Director's Chair image campaign (the foundation for a national PSA in association with Women in Film.) In 2005, she concept-designed and scripted the Metro Chicago United Way's Leadership Campaign. Her first feature film, Revenge Ends, will debut on the festival circuit in 2008.

Her films have been selected for competition at many national and international film festivals, including the juried Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Chicago International Children's Film Festival. In 2006, "Goodbye, Howard" and "Last Time We Met" were selected as part of the inaugural Chicago International New Filmmakers Festival. "Goodbye, Howard" was also selected as one of the Top 4 Best of Fest at the Gen Art Film Festival in 2006.

"No. 72" and "The Super Dupers" were selected to premiere at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. These festivals are recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as Academy AwardTM qualifying events. Also in 2006, the 10th annual Webby Awards named Fresh Films an official honoree.
In other arenas, Ms. Mitchell was interviewed by the New York Times and the BBC for her part in exposing the Kaycee Nicole hoax, and she's been tapped by morning radio shows all over the United States as a guest expert on Urban Legends & Folklore.

All this however does not show the humor of her chat nor the sharing of her work that Saundra produced during the show. From the 1140 rejections before “Shadowed Summer” got an agent and latterly a publisher, to the pure joy in her voice when she talks about her new book The Vespertine.

So listen and learn about this fabulous author, on todays "A Book and a Chat with Saundra Mitchell"
