A Book and a Chat with Mike Bond

It is a big welcome bacl to my guest on today's "A Book and a Chat" to best-selling novelist, war and human rights correspondent, environmental activist, award-winning poet and international energy expert, Mike Bond.

Mike has lived globetrotting and often dangerous life , he’s  lived and worked in over thirty countries on six continents. An adviser to the US and foreign governments, human rights and war correspondent, award-winning poet and international energy expert, Mike has used his own experience of many dangerous, remote and war-torn regions of the world to enhance his bestselling novels… he is… as the BBC called him…” The master of the existential thriller" .

Mike’s novels are all based on his experiences in far, dangerous corners of the world:

CROSSFIRE: A British undercover agent fights for his life in Beirut at the height of the Lebanese War -- a deep look into the Middle East's ancient wars and hatreds.

FIRE LIKE THE SUN: An international best-seller about U.S. nuclear warheads lost in the Himalayas, a manhunt through Nepal, Iran, Greece, Algeria, France, Virginia and Colorado.

NIGHT OF THE DEAD: Vietnam vet and weed smuggler Joe Murphy loses his plane in a Guatemalan jungle attack, falls in love with the woman guerrilla who heals him, and fights to protect them both as the death squads hunt them down.

THE LAST SAVANNA: A former British commando battles elephant poachers who then kidnap the woman he loves, in this acclaimed inside story of Africa's disappearing savannas, animals and freedoms.

About "The Last Savana": (taken from Authors Web Page)

With Africa’s last elephants dying under the guns of Somali poachers, ex-SAS officer Ian MacAdam leads a commando squad against them, to hunt what for him is the only decent prey – man. Pursuing the poachers through jungled mountains and searing deserts he battles thirst, solitude, terror and lethal animals, only to find they have kidnapped a young archaeologist, Rebecca Hecht, whom he once loved and bitterly lost. She escapes the kidnappers, is caught and escapes again to risk perishing in the desert. MacAdam embarks on a desperate trek to save not only Rebecca but his own soul in an Africa torn apart by wars, overpopulation and the slaughter of its last wildlife.

Based on the author’s own experiences pursuing elephant poachers in the wilds of East Africa, The Last Savanna is an intense personal memoir of humanity’s ancient heartland, its people and animals, the lonely beauty of its perilous deserts, jungles, and savannas, and the deep, abiding power of love.

As onbe revevuer wrote about the book...

“Mike Bond takes readers into a literary safari of Africa’s elephant poaching war with The Last Savanna, a novel that expertly captures the ravenous, chaotic and frustrating battles raging across the continent . . . and paints a vivid picture of life in the savanna . . . Bond’s knowledge of the Swahili language, local culture and even the wildlife result in what may be one of the most realistic portrayals of Africa yet . . . Bond’s specialty in producing thrillers that editorialize human weakness and bring to light pressing world problems shines in The Last SavannaDynamic, heart-breaking and timely to current events, Bond’s latest book is a must-read.” –

Mike Bond’s critically acclaimed novels depict the innate hunger of the human heart for good, the intense joys of love, the terror and fury of battle, the sinister vagaries of politics and multinational corporations, and the magical beauty of the vanishing natural world in thrill a minute, page turning, must read adventures.

A Book and a Chat with Mike Bond

After being off for a week due to family illness and incidents I am back with another cracking guest, this time in the form of best-selling novelist, war and human rights correspondent, environmental activist, award-winning poet and international energy expert, Mike Bond.

Mike’s four previous novels are all based on his experiences in far, dangerous corners of the world:

THE LAST SAVANNA: A former British commando battles elephant poachers who then kidnap the woman he loves, in this acclaimed inside story of Africa's disappearing savannas, animals and freedoms.

Now he brings us a his latest thriller  SAVING PARADISE in which an Afghanistan War veteran–turned-surfer risks his life and freedom to search for a journalist’s murderer.

About "Saving Paradise": (taken from Authors Web Page)

When a beautiful journalist drowns mysteriously in Honolulu Bay, former Special Forces veteran Pono Hawkins, now a well-known Hawaii surfer and international correspondent for surfing magazines, soon gets embroiled in trying to find why she died. What he learns quickly makes him a target for murder or life in prison as a cabal of powerful corporations, foreign killers and crooked politicians turns the blame on him.

Haunted by memories of Afghanistan, and determined to protect the Hawaii he loves from dirty politics tied to huge destructive energy developments, Pono turns to Special Forces buddies and his own skills to fight his deadly enemies, trying both to save himself and find her killers.

Alive with the sights, sounds and history of Hawaii, Saving Paradise is also a deeply rich portrait of what Pono calls “the seamy side of paradise”, and an exciting thriller of politics, lies and remorseless murder.

A Book and a Chat with Kristina McMorris

Some people are just creative, no matter what they do with their lives and my guest on today’s show is just one of those people. As on today’s show award winning actress, TV host and now author, Kristina McMorris drops by for a chat.

Kristina is creativity personified. She’s an actress, TV show host, entrepreneur, and public relations whiz, as well as an author. She hosted a children’s TV show for five years beginning at age nine, had a stint on Days of Our Lives and was in a comedy sketch with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show during college, and was the weekly host of the WB’s show Weddings Portland Style from 2001-2008. After earning a Marketing degree in three years at Pepperdine University, she founded her own company, Best Kept Secret, a full-service wedding and event planning business. She’s served as Director of Public Relations and Special Events for her family’s 18-company conglomerate, the Yoshida Group (perhaps most recognized for its line of Mr. Yoshida’s Gourmet Sauces) for over a decade.

Her trip into the world of being an author began in the fall of 2006 as a result of interviewing her grandmother for the biographical section of a self-published cookbook intended as a holiday gift for the family. During this time her Grandmother shared with Kristina her own war time romance and the large pile of letters between herself and her late husband.

From this acorn of an idea, the mighty oak that is now a numerous award winning novel “Letters from Home”.

About Letters from Home:

Inspired by a true account, LETTERS FROM HOME is a story of hope and connection, of sacrifices made in love and war – and the chance encounters that change us forever. n the midst of World War II, a Midwestern infantryman falls deeply in love through a yearlong letter exchange, unaware that the girl he’s writing to is not the one replying. Woven around this tenuous thread are three female friends whose journeys toward independence take unexpected turns as a result of romance, tragedy, and deception, their repercussions heightened by an era of the unknown.

Having spent a year in Florence during college, she dreams of living in Italy in a villa purchased with her millions of royalty dollars, but for now her family is content to dine at Olive Garden. However with a second book “Bridge over Scarlet Leaves” due out early next year, it looks like this creative lady has another successful string to her bow, this time as a bestselling author, perhaps that dream might happen.

So sit back and listen to today's interesting and entertaining show as I host today's "A Book and a Chat with Kistina McMorris".

A Book and a Chat with "Michele Cameron"

My guest on today's show was born just down the road from me here in Connecticut before graduating to become an English teacher, which she still is to this present day. Today's guest is the one and only Michele Cameron (that's Michele with one "L").

Michele, was a popular guest when she appeared on the show previously, so far had four books published, including her latest novel novel "Unclear and Present Danger". Her books have always been popular, covering many aspects of life each one though romance based, always covers some other part of every day living. This ranges from international marriage, to health care issues.

Once again Michele proved a great guest sharing incites on both life and her writing, along with what she is currently working on right now. From her books "Moments of Clarity" , "Never Say Never"

, when "Lightning Strikes", to her latest novel each novel has grown in stature and popularity. We also heard about the issues she's had with book titles, which is why her current work is "shhhhh" secret.

A book and a chat with Michele Cameron is always a fun filled show, a must for any reader looking for a great thirty minutes broadcast to learn from and to share

So why not listen now or else down load the link and listen to the show later.

A Book and a Chat with "Kristin Walker"

Over the last year and 120 shows I've had guests both authors and bloggers discussing all kinds of subjects and genres. Sometimes from the information you glean about the guest that day you just know that the show will be fun, not that they all aren't its just sometimes you get that feeling that a large amount of laughter will fill the show. Today was one of those shows.

My special guest on today's "A Book and a Chat" was writer, actress, lifeguard, ballroom dance instructor and much more, Kristin Walker author of "A Match Made in High School".

Making her creative way through short stories and picture books, this is Kristin's first published book (launched February 4th 2010), and one that has been much looked forward to my the YA readers.

"A Match Made in High School" is a story full of sweetness tempered with sarcasm, the book is the perfect teen romance. Laugh-out-loud funny, unpredictable, and fresh, one you won't want to miss.

The show as expected proved a great chat filled with knowledge, cometary and laughter. We learned much about Kristin and her book, even to what to do with a dirty sock. How she was obsessed with the "Little House on the Prairie", or being part of Edwardian England in the vain of Mary Poppins, or "Up Stairs Down Stairs". How as a Tenner and a former Deb has been one of the most rewarding things by far, providing her the opportunity to become friends with so many incredibly talented authors.

The show as expected was a entertaining forty-five minutes, so why not tune in now or download the file to listen to another time, to "A Book and a Chat with Kristin Walker"
