YA Month - "A Book and a Chat with Tirzah (Compulsive Reader Blog)"

January is YA Radio month on A Book and a Chat, with special guest throughout the month, not only authors but bloggers as well.

My guest on today's YA MONTH - "A Book and a Chat" was one of the YA bloggers I call the Sham-wow of Young Adult LiteratureTirzah who writes in the blog "The Compulsive Reader".

The show as normal was full of interest and entertainment and Tirzah shared with us how her love of reading had lead her to produce not only her blog, but reviews and book trailers amongst other items. In fact there seems no stopping her. With over a thousand book, I'm sure she'll have her own library soon.

Many interesting questions were put to Tirzah from people in the chat room, to which she supplied some really interesting answers.

During the show we learned about her favorite books both ones she reads as "comfort books" as well as sharing with us not only her most enjoyed books of 2009 along with some she is looking forward to reading in 2010. We also found out that Tirzah would have loved to have been around in the early twentieth century, chaining herself to railings and shouting "votes for women".

YA Month - "A Book and a Chat with Bree Despain"

January is YA Radio month on A Book and a Chat, with special guest throughout the month.

My guest on today's YA MONTH - "A Book and a Chat" was BREE DESPAIN author of "THE DARK DIVINE" which had it's launch party just a few days ago.

Like all good times when you are enjoying yourself, this one hour special just seemed to fly by, being both a fun and educational sixty minutes.

During the show we learned about how life and directed Bree along the various byways to find her true calling of producing, this her first, but certainly not her last novel.

The Dark Divine has received rave reviews about her book full of suspense and mystery, characters with unexpected depths, a romantic plot yet with twists and turns that keep the reader wanting to turn the page. And all the time as the tension continues to build you'll learn more about the supernatural elements and the creatures in this fantastic YA novel.

Bree shared with us her experiences from her writing and having Egmont as a publisher, to her book launch where King's English Bookshop or TKE in Salt Lake City, where so many people turned up it was standing room only, how some people even had "Dark Divine" t-shirts. the book stored which actually "asked" if they could host the book launch, and despite extra copies of the book sold out on that day. They even baked special purple halfmoon cookies for the event.

During the show Bree divulged the writing of a second and possibly a third novel about the more in the lives of the Divine family as they deal with their problem and Grace and Daniel learn to accept and cope with the differences between them.

And why does Bree dream about large lumps of cheese covered in honey?

JANUARY 2010 YA RADIO MONTH

To start of the New Year I am as they say in the North of England, "Chuffed to little meat balls" to be hosting a YA RADIO MONTH.

Throughout January on my blog radio show "A Book and a Chat" (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Across-the-Pond on I will be hosting writers and bloggers of Young Adult Literature.

After realizing that I already had several YA Bloggers booked to appear on the show in January I thought "Why not make the whole month dedicated to YA Literature?".

I contacted several of the top YA Bloggers asking them for their top YA Authors in 2009. Not counting Julia Holban who will be making a return appearance in March, I then contacted about 10 of these writers. I am so pleased to say that every writer who returned my email was only too willing to appear on the show.

The first of these shows is on Saturday when Rhonda Stapleton author of "Stupid Cupid" will be my guest

Any way here are the full details for the month

A Book and a Chat with "Dallas Woodburn"

Tonight's special guest on "A Book and a Chat" has come a long way from a very difficult beginning, "Dallas Woodburn" has become an author, speaker, freelance writer as well as living her dream.

A 22-year-old recent USC graduate, Dallas already has produced two collections of short stories, a forthcoming novel, and more than 80 articles in publications including Family Circle, Writer's Digest, The Writer, the Los Angeles Times, and seven Chicken Soup for the Soul books.

Her first book "There's a Huge Pimple on My Nose" (got to love that title), was produced when she was in fifth grade. Since then she has gone on to produce a second book of short stories "3 a.m." Dallas writes with both humor and poignancy, features you will understand as you listen to our chat.

During the show we discuss items from her premature birth and the knowledge and gratitude gained from realizing how lucky she is to just being alive and how that has given her the drive to live her dream of becoming a writer.

Dallas also shares with us how at the age of thirteen she started "Write On!" a non-profit organization that encourages children to discover joy, self-confidence, and expression through writing and reading. And the great work she has done through that link to gather over 11,000 books for young readers during "Holiday Book Drives" after the last nine years.

A fun and interesting program where we learn much about Dallas and her writing, that all will enjoy.

So why not settle down and listen to thirty minutes with "Dallas Woodburn" in today's "A Book and a Chat"

She is definitely a name to look out for...

A Christmas Book and a Chat with Kim Smith

I started running my internet blog radio show, back in February of 2009, since that time I have presented exactly one hundered radio shows.

My very first guest was also just starting her radio show, as well as launching her own book. Since then we have appeared on each others shows since then as well as doing a couple of specials together.

So today to for my Christmas special who else could I have as a guest but the one and only KIM SMITH Mystery and Romance author and host of the blog radio show "Introducing Writers"

Kim and I talk about all that has gone on through this last year, how our radio shows have taken, off, the guests we've had, the things we've learned and been able to share with listeners. Not only about the writers and their books, but about the art of writing and promoting books a whole.

The show as normal when Kim and I get chatting covers many areas and is not lacking in humor.

As a Christmas Special, the show was extended to a one hour slot, yet still we ran out of time.

So why not settle down as listen to "A Christmas Book and a Chat with Kim Smith" or better still download the mp3 file or bookmark the radio show, and have a relaxing and enjoyable listen to the show after that Christmas Dinner.

A Book and a Chat with "James Diehl"

My guest on tonight’s “A Book and a Chat” is author of “World War II Hero’s of Southern Delaware” – ‘JAMES DIEHL

When the Seaford and Laurel Star newspapers in Sussex, Delaware decided to run a series of articles on World War II veterans, people were excited about the opportunity to preserve a part of history that would be lost forever. Local veterans through interviews passed on their experiences, and it’s these stories of courage and sacrifice James Diehl has shared with readers in his book of “World War II Hero’s of Southern Delaware”.

From a soldier who was responsible for uncovering Adolph Hitler s enormous, and illegally gained, fortune toward the end of World War II. To one of the men who liberated the German concentration camps. James tells us about how he gathered these important parts of our history from the people who actually lived the experience.

So stop by and share this fascinating and educational thirty minutes as James Diehl is my guest today on “A Book and a Chat”.

A Book and a Chat with J.W. Nicklaus

Monday night "A Book and a Chat" had a welcome return visit from J.W. Nicklaus. Jeff as I know him was previously a guest on the show in April with the release of his book of short stories "The Light, the Dark and Embers Between". As normal with Jeff the show covered all sorts of things going on and not just about his book. At several points I became the interviewee rather than the host.

Also as normal the show was a huge amount of fun, and I'm sure it's one that many will enjoy and have a chuckle or two over.

So stop by for thirty minutes and share tonight's "A Book and a Chat with J.W.Nicklaus" as I am now at
