A Book and a Chat with Clare Cooper Marcus

Calre Copper Marcus is a professor in the Departments of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of Berkley. Not only that, she is the author of five award winning books, including her latest book “Iona Dreaming: The Healing Power of Place A Memoir.”

Raised in England during the Second World War like many other children she was evacuated from a town into the countryside, she grew up loving nature and knowing the power of finding one’s own place of comfort, be it real or imaginary.

Clare is now internationally recognized for her pioneering research on psychological and sociological aspects of architecture, land-use planning and landscape design.

Indeed her co-edited book on the current movement to bring nature into hospitals “House as Mirror of Self and Healing Gardens” not only was selected as the “Book of the Year” by the Detroit Free Press, but also had Clare making an appearance on Oprah.
