A Book and a Chat with Cindy Freland

My guest on today’s “A Book and a Chat” is Cindy Freland.  Cindy founded Maryland Secretarial Services, Inc. in 1997. She has won three awards and teaches business workshops at two local community colleges, a senior center and two chamber of commerce offices. She offers word processing, data entry, desktop publishing and transcription to businesses of all sizes, government agencies, non-profit organizations and individuals throughout the United States. Her passion is teaching workshops, designing and managing Facebook pages and helping authors get their books on Amazon.

As well as writing many business books, including "Easy Guide to Your Facebook Business Page” something that many authors would I’m sure be interested in reading, Cindy has also written several children’s books. These children’s books include the wonderfully “Mud Pies” and “Felix the Purple Giant”.

Now Cindy has started a new series of books which are not only fun to read but will educate both the person being read to and the reader.

The first of this “Chesapeake Bay Adventure" series is “Jordan the Jelly Fish”

About “Jordan the Jelly Fish”:

Jordan the Jellyfish is lost and needs to find her way home from Sandy Point State Park to Mayo Beach, Maryland. She encounters danger and fun with her friends in and above the Chesapeake Bay. Her friends include Arthur the Anchovy, Curtis the Crab and Olivia the Osprey and they help protect Jordan and help her find her way home.

The book includes facts about the Chesapeake Bay, the bridge, the watermen, jellyfish, bay anchovies, blue crabs, osprey and more. Also included are tips on what to do if you are stung by a jellyfish and tips for your child if they get lost.

Story inspired by true events and is illustrated by Jon Munson.

With the second in the series about “Curtis the Crab” already written and several others in the planning stages, these books not only are fun to read but also are great educators.

So listen now and share an interesting, and entertaining show as I chat with my special guest today on A Book and a Chat with Cindy Freland

A Book and a Chat with Lorene Burkhart

If you have ever thought about writing a book yourself, then my guest on todays "A Book and a Chat" shows it's never too late to start writing.

Lorene Burkhart finally wrote her first book when she was seventy, since that time she has completed six books, covering her life growing up on a farm, children’s stories and the book we mainly chatted about today ”Sick of Doctors? Then Do Something About It”.

Let’s face it, we are all patients from the time we’re born until the time we die. The question is: How do we as patients become empowered in a medical culture that historically leaves us doing what the doctor says?

In this groundbreaking book, Lorene challenges each of us to enter the era of empowered patients by letting go of past practices and embracing outcome-based medical services. Being accountable for one's own body and health is a huge step toward improved medical relationships. She rejects the old authoritarian system of "handing it over" to a doctor as one that is no longer appropriate or wise, and that made its exit when the Internet made its entrance. Using a variety of resources as a guide, she encourages patients to be their own medical advocates with the ultimate reward being their own good health.

Items like items to prepare before visiting your doctor, questions to be asked, even remembering to say thank you were discussed fascinating show.

Though in her mid seventies, Lorene I’m sure will be continue producing books for all ages, from the young to the not so young.

So sit back and enjoy toady’s “A Book and a Chat with Lorene Burkhart

A Book and a Chat with "Sedrick Muhammad"

Without planning this weeks guests have been people who in one way or another by their writing are providing helpful information and reading for young readers, today's guest Sedrick Muhammad follows this same path.

Sedrick Muhammad in a co-founder and Co of Models for Success, LLC, whose mission s to assist youth and young adults in discovering, developing, and maximizing their potential. This includes helping them to acquire the necessary skills, such as communication, goal-setting and entrepreneurship, which will enable them to thrive as young professionals.

As we discovered during the show one of the items that Sedric has now provided to aid the learning and education of children is a set of books "The Young Professional".

This is a set of ten books which provides career exploration for 3rd and 4th grade students and up. They are written in a format that children will find themselves drawn to the characters indeed they can perhaps see themselves in the roles and the careers that are shown in the books.

Sedrick explained during the show that this, one of the most popular searched for books on Amazon, not only explains about careers, but also covers character education as well as academic support.

The show proved to be both interesting and entertaining, as well as of course educational.

This set of books I am sure will soon find there way into many junior school library's, so why not tune in now or download the file to listen to another time, to "A Book and a Chat with Sedrick Muhammad"
